Sobuwke; A Great Soul won 5 awards at the SAFTAS in 2013, best feature documentary, best director of feature documentary, best editing feature documentary and the Amnesty Award for Human Rights at the Durban International Film Festival in 2011.

UNTOLD

Untold tells the story of Dr Joseph Shabalala, founding member of the multi-Grammy Award winning choral group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Untold traces the roots and key moments in the life of Dr Joseph Shabalala and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. How they rose to stardom through the release of Paul Simon’s Graceland and what drove him to present the musical singing style of Iscathamiya, originated from Zulu culture, to the world. The film explores Joseph’s political involvements, his relationship with Nelson Mandela and how he managed to prevent a race war, despite personal tragedy, between black labourers and white farmers in his home town of Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal.

The essence of the great soul that is Sobukwe lay in his deep sense of humanity, integrity and courage. This film is about Sobukwe the man; the freedom fighter, the lay-preacher and the global visionary. It is about South Africa's history, from a perspective not yet told. This film takes us through his life journey from childhood, to being prisoner number ONE on Robben Island to his death and is his incredible human spirit - how he defined an era, refined an ethos - Pan-Africanism, gave rise to Black Consciousness and returned dignity to black people.
